Changeling
A lullaby
Hush now my child And fret no more A horseshoe hangs Over our door The candlelight Will keep you here For flickering fire Faeries may fear Hush now my child And welcome sleep Beside your cradle My watch, I keep A daisy garland Rests on your brow They will not dare To take you now Hush now my child And dream a while Your cradle rocks I see you smile Soft tinkling bells Chime as you stir Malevolent spirits Won't reach our door Hush now my child And know no harm A sprinkling of salt Will work its charm Let faeries gaze On your pretty face For no changeling child Shall take your place

There was a horse shoe over the door in my childhood home. This new poem of yours feels like it would make a good lullabye, Trudi. It's beautiful! xo
I can feel the intensity of watching over our children, protecting them from harm. Sometimes, we fear it’s never enough for this world. Thank you, Trudi🧚♂️
