Gathered
I gathered up my memories And tied them in a sack I had no need To pay them heed For they just held me back I set out on a journey Footloose and fancy free Without a past To tie me fast To how I ought to be I met so many people Who travelled the same way Their footsteps light Their countenance, bright Enjoying every day You ask me do I miss them Those memories of mine They held me back Revealed each lack Yet could not bring back time You see, I'm so much freer Living in the here and now Let old times rest It's for the best There are new fields to plough

Yes, the problem with living in the past and dwelling on memories (great or otherwise) that you may have had back then is that you are already missing the even better ones you could be living in or creating right now. Thanks, Trudi, for this gentle reminder.
This is powerful for me right now Trudi...and I feel for ALL💜
